Entertainment Committee
The entertainment committee at Stormin Loud is focused on delivering an unforgettable experience for the student body. Comprising talented students with a keen eye for entertainment, this dedicated team curated a diverse lineup of performers and experiences tailored to the interests of their fellow students. From emerging local talent to nationally renowned headliners, the entertainment committee selected acts that resonate with the diverse tastes of the university community, ensuring that Stormin Loud 2024 offered something for everyone. With a mission to create lasting memories and foster a sense of belonging, this committee works tirelessly to make Stormin Loud a highlight for the student experience.
Rides & Attractions Committee
The Rides & Attractions Committee is dedicated to enhancing the overall experience by curating an exciting array of rides, activities, and attractions for Stormin Loud. From thrilling carnival rides to interactive activities, this creative team ensures that attendees have plenty of opportunities for fun and adventure within the festivities. With a focus on providing entertainment for the student body, the Rides & Attractions Committee adds an extra layer of excitement to the Stormin Loud experience.
Resident Students Association - RSA
The Resident Student Association (RSA) is one of the three programming boards at St John’s University that creates interactive programs for resident students, and is inclusive to all St. John’s students. RSA strives to provide amazing entertainment for students both inside, and outside, of the residence halls and to be a programming board that betters the residential community. As an organization that serves as a place for students who want a home away from home, RSA gives students something to look forward to when living on campus, especially for students don’t have the opportunity to go home on the weekends. By providing interactive and educational programs, RSA aims to excite students about being residents at St John’s University, and to highlight all the opportunities that campus life can offer them.
Student Programming Board - SPB
The Student Programming Board is one of the three programming boards at St. John’s University, and strives to create programs to narrow the gap between commuter and resident students. The Student Programming Board is one of the oldest programming organizations and develops equitable, yet entertaining, experiences for both groups of students. Some of SPB's events include Stormsburg, which includes creative games and food trucks, Six Flags Fright Fest, Masquerade Ball, and many others. Commuter Appreciation Week is their most famous event, which honors commuters with a full week of activities in March – from a block party and basketball tournament, to a paint & sip night, movie night, field day, and more.
haraya
Haraya: The Pan-African Students Coalition is one of the three programming boards at St. John’s University, founded in 1968 by six African American students who felt their community needed representation within the school. Haraya is Swahili and can be translated to “Pride, Dignity, and Freedom.” With these ideologies in mind, Haraya strives to provide a platform that encourages students to succeed academically and professionally. Their biggest event – the Black and White Ball – is hosted every year during Black History Month, and was put in place 31 years ago to highlight & promote Black Excellence across campus. General Body Meetings are held bi-weekly, and they are open to all students regardless of background. As an organization, Haraya strives to educate & uplift both the St. John’s campus and surrounding community.
SGI
Student Government, Inc. (SGI) is the official representative of the undergraduate student body on the Queen's campus of St. John’s University and the parent organization of all undergraduate Student Organizations on campus. SGI membership consists of an Executive Board, elected Senators, and appointed Committee Chairs. SGI and all representatives are responsible for advocating and communicating the concerns and needs of students.
